  5. A way to get thermal energy is to take an isotope (iodine 131) and extract a neutron from the nuclieus. Fire the neutron at the isotope's nuclieus. Inside the nuclieus, the strong force weakens and the protons begin to repel each other. The nuclieus goes into a process called fission. The nuclieus explodes and releases vast amounts of thermal energy.
